Peace Talks in Nay Pyi Taw Focus on Elections and Conflict Resolution
U Ko Ko Gyi, Chairman of the People’s Party, emphasized that elections are essential to overcoming Myanmar’s current conflicts. Speaking at the peace talks in Nay Pyi Taw, he highlighted the role of political parties and the challenges they face in the electoral process.
Election as a Path to Peace
“The election is important for overcoming the ongoing conflicts in the country. We will discuss the role of political parties and the challenges ahead. As long as we maintain strong beliefs in open discussions, we can keep our hopes for peace alive,” said U Ko Ko Gyi at the event.
Three-Day Peace Talks at MICC-2
The peace talks, organized by the Military Council, are being held at the Myanmar International Convention Center (MICC-2) in Nay Pyi Taw from March 24 to March 26. The discussions include representatives from various political parties and ethnic groups.
Among the attendees are:
- U Ko Ko Gyi, Chairman of the People’s Party
- Former Military Council Ministers Daw Thet Khaing, Daw Nyo Nyo Thin, and U Hla Maung Shwe
- Dr. Naw Ka Pao Htoo from the Karen National Union (KNU/KNLA) (PC)
- Daw Saw Mya Ya Zar Lin To from the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP)
